Business & Mini Case Competition

Our two-day Business Program introduces students to the fundamentals of business and gives them the opportunity to apply what they learn through a mini case competition.

Day 1 — Learn & Discover

Students are introduced to foundational business concepts and learn how businesses identify problems, understand customers, and develop solutions. They are then introduced to the case challenge, form teams, and begin brainstorming their approach.

Day 2 — Build & Present

Teams continue developing their solutions with guidance from BizWiz instructors. At the end of the session, each team presents its recommendations, putting their teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills into practice.

Economics

Economics is part of everyday life, even if we don't always realize it. This program introduces students to basic economic concepts in a way that connects them to situations they already understand.

Students explore introductory ideas such as supply and demand, scarcity, incentives, opportunity cost, prices, and how people make choices with limited resources. They learn that these concepts shape the decisions families, businesses, and governments make every day.

Rather than focusing only on definitions, students work through activities and scenarios that encourage them to ask why things happen and what might happen next. Every concept is connected to something students already know, like their favourite snacks, the games they play, or the stores they visit, so they can apply what they learn to the world around them. Students also have the freedom to follow their curiosity, whether that means digging into how their favourite brand sets prices or asking why some businesses succeed while others don't. Along the way, they build the confidence to think critically, explain their reasoning, and see economics everywhere they look.

Finance

Our Finance Program introduces students to fundamental ideas about money and financial decision-making in an accessible, age-appropriate way.

Students explore introductory concepts such as earning, saving, spending, budgeting, interest, investing, risk and return, and how money can grow over time. These ideas form the foundation for making smart money choices, and it's never too early to start building those habits.

Through exercises and simple scenarios, students begin thinking about how financial choices work and why different decisions can lead to different outcomes. Every concept is connected to something students already know, like saving up for something they want, deciding how to spend their allowance, or wondering how a bank account actually earns money. Students also have the freedom to explore what interests them most, whether that's how investing works, what makes some choices riskier than others, or how small savings can add up over time.

For more advanced students, the program goes a step further with hands-on work in Excel, the same tool professionals in finance use. Students learn to calculate present value (PV) and future value (FV) to see how the value of money changes over time, and are introduced to the dividend discount model (DDM), a method investors use to estimate what a company's stock is worth. By building these calculations themselves, students gain real, practical skills and the confidence to make thoughtful, informed decisions about money, skills that will serve them for the rest of their lives.
